Veterans Matter – Homelessness is a difficult problem in our society. It is particularly distressing when the homeless persons are veterans. State and Federal programs to aid homeless veterans are a patch-work quilt. Most homeless veterans can get vouchers to pay their rent, but get nothing to cover move-in costs and deposits. Salem Exchange Club, with the able assistance of Capital City Exchange Club, conducts a fundraiser specifically aimed at covering move-in costs for homeless vets. And the event is a big heap of fun!
Pasta with the Presidents – Most Salem Exchange Club projects benefit our community’s youth: high schoolers, grade schoolers, and abused kids regardless of school status. We have a spaghetti dinner with live entertainment to raise money to cover the costs of all these projects. We hold it over the Presidents Day weekend. You’re invited! You like spaghetti and you’re going to have dinner that night anyway…
